Fresh milling dates on every jar. If a spice is out, it is because the harvest ended, not because we are restocking from a broker.

Since 2019

We pay the grower first, then work out our margin.

Faridale started when our founder spent a season in Wayanad and watched pepper leave the estate at Rs 340 a kilo, then found the same lot retailing at eleven times that in a Bengaluru store. Almost none of the difference had reached the farm.

So we do the boring version. We contract directly, agree the price before harvest, pay half up front, and publish the farm-gate rate on every jar. It makes us slower and more expensive than a brand buying at auction. It also means the pepper in your grinder was on a plant nine weeks ago.

“Opened the pepper jar and my whole kitchen smelled of it. I have been buying supermarket pepper for years and genuinely did not know it was supposed to do that.”

“The turmeric stains everything, which I now understand is the point. Ordered the 500g after the first jar lasted about six weeks.”

“Spices are excellent. Cardamom went out of stock before I could reorder and it was gone for two months, so plan ahead if you cook with it a lot.”
